Weekly Skylights for July 21 – 27, 2019: Life is a Beach

One aspect I failed to tap into in previous Skylights is Neptune Trine Rahu, we have been feeling this aspect and will continue to feel this all the way until August 18th, 2019. Communal life feeling off or strange. Sleeplessness or more lucid dreaming than usual. Misconceptions and possibly a tendency to expect more than necessary. Remember if you don’t expect anything you will never be disappointed. The sense of an inability to grasp what you feel you need. We are just going to have to ride the wave with this one.

There are still echoes of last week’s eclipse season, wrap up that unfinished business as best you can and try to move forward into the new.

Wednesday, July 24: Venus ingresses into the sign of Cancer, shifting the focus of love and harmony from the crown chakra to the heart center. The Houses

The houses are the areas of life and environments in which we find ourselves. Originally called ‘the places’. Environmental experiences. The ‘where’ of what is occurring. The terrain in which you navigate.

An empty house does not mean there is a lack of activity but the absence of a serious problem in that area of life. With no planets in a house there is a potential for more freedom of movement in those areas of life. Where planets land, it is more of a calling as to what needs to be worked on in this lifetime.

I find an easy way to learn the houses is by learning them in pairs of opposites.

1st house is the house of self, across the way is the 7th house the house of the other. Relationship with the self versus the Relationship with the other.

2nd house is house of personal resources versus 8th house of shared resources.

3rd house is short journey and rudimentary education versus 9th house long journeys and higher education.

4th house is private/domestic life and mother versus 10th house public/career life and father.

5th house is of children and creativity versus 11th house friends and commitments.

6th house is of work and routine versus 12th house of retreat and escape.

Sunday, July 14th: The Sun shines a lights by communicating it; chatter in the air, noise all around, communication, messages, notifications, everyone wants to be heard. When were are all talking over each other, what happens? The philosopher in you may decide to take a step back, to return to your power, and attempt to turn off the lights of incessant babbling. In fact, you may feel called to take a step back and assess how you are expending your energy. This is a case of how much of my own energy should I give versus how much energy do I draw in towards myself? This is the dynamic tension of showing grace and saving face. The greatest showman to the remote recluse. This is a battle royale of distinguishing the light of conversation from the depths of the teachings. Tuesday, July 16th: The emotional body connects with the deep body, with the Moon conjunction to Pluto Rx in Sagittarius. There is an innate sense of magnetism to seek and to proceed into the trenches that are hidden. Where can we find the buried treasure, the sacred fruit that has been hidden?

What is it that you cherish, nurture, and find beauty in? Where has the pressure build up for you to put up boundaries and limits? Your discussions of what you love and seeking to handling your responsibilities tug at each other, with Venus in Gemini opposed Saturn Rx in Sagittarius. What you say in beauty and what is perceived in restriction and boundaries will be at odds.

This Full Moon lands at 29° Sagittarius, while trudging through the murkiness will be beneficial and that the wisdom of your past experiences will come to fruition and nurture your emotional needs. Remember things are not always what they seem, pay attention to the finer details or things others cant see. When things don’t seem right they usually aren’t trust your instinct. Check that what you’re discussing bears truth as your own delusions may make it more difficult for you to navigate. Beware of speaking tall tales and overindulgence, on any level.

The pressure shifts from intellect to emotion as the Sun ingresses into the sign of Cancer. A light shines on domestic life, a sense of nurturing, comfort, intuition, and some time to decompress. Consciousness

The Hermit tells us what is underneath and needs to be brought to surface. It tells of a moment of truth by shining your lantern on the issues at hand. The insight you carry will help you navigate on the path of self-enlightenment. It is a lonely road but it is not without its rewards. Cloak yourself and take the trek that may ultimately lead to resolution.

Advice

The Ten of Wands tells us advice to navigating this week. While, yes, the pressure is on, the universe doesn’t give you more that you can handle. Even though it might seem far, you are so very close to your goal. Carry all things unnecessary to the garbage and alleviate yourself of self-imposed dead-weight. Zodiac Signs

Now we get into familiar territory, the zodiac signs. I feel like these archetypes have been beaten to death. But they are one of the staples of the astrological language. These are the lenses, the descriptors, the filters, the adjectives that describe how the planets are expressing themselves. Some planets do better expressing themselves in certain signs and not as well in others, this is the concept of essential dignities.

The stories and myths have always been with the stars. Zodiac signs are based off the star constellations, more or less, and thus astrologer’s noticed how a planet expresses itself moving through that part of the sky. Think of the planet as a performer on stage, the zodiac sign would then be the backdrop of the stage, providing an ambiance to the performance. For example, Venus is in detriment in the sign of Aries. If Venus is all about love and harmony, you may sense pastel colors, the smell of roses or baked goods when you think of her. But in a sign like Aries, Venus would have a hard time sending her message accordingly, especially if she is dress like Xena the warrior princess and the backdrop looks like the aftermath of a Spartan battle. Venus is still innately Venus, but the demeanor shifts a bit.

Syntax: The planets are always in the sign. Mercury is in Aries. Because we have the function/noun (planet) in expression (sign). For example, Mercury (intellect) in Aries (fiery and forceful). Thus an astrology article may say, “Today, your ideas (Mercury) are firing on all cylinders (Aries), go for it”.

Now that we have that out the way, let’s get into a quick cookbook-look at some general descriptors for the signs. Negative, neutral, and positive qualities will be provided. This is not an extensive list— just a word drop soup of typical keywords. This is just a jumping off point, a reference. Remember, you are not just your Sun sign, you are so much deeper!

Weekly Skylights for July 7 – 13, 2019: The Seeker Within, The Journey Without

Sunday, July 7th: Mercury Stations Retrograde

Beginning this week is our need to rethink, relearn, reestablish how we communicate our intuitions, feelings, attachments, and compassion with Mercury stationing retrograde at 9° Cancer. Thoughts and feelings are one in the same, if there is a struggle, then this is an opportunity to break new ground. Mars makes a presence this Mercury station. So, I feel like there are themes of breaking conventional conditioning that no longer serves you; separating unconventional idealistic perspectives from achievable personal aspirations.

This may be a good time for personal philosohpical studies and establishing a focused personal practice of your liking.. as long as you feel called to do so.

As my beautiful friend Nikki Moore from School of Divination said, “Planets Aren’t Puppeteers“. While it is easy to assume because Mercury is in retrograde that it is affecting us, it doesn’t mean that we are powerless. In such a state that everyone talks about power of attraction, free will, and we are the creators of our destiny, etc, etc– are the same ones that sure seems to place a lot of emphasis on retrograde planets getting the better of them. This is fatalism at its finest.

Stop for a minute, and listen to the power of your words, for they give thoughts life and thus create the reality. The phrase goes, “The macrocosm ‘is like‘ the microcosm”. Not, “The macrocosm ‘causes‘ the microcosm”.

The universe shows us patterns, be it astrology, card divination, divination by the actions of animals or whatever tickles your fancy. So what patterns in your thought processes you would like to shift and change? Where do you ‘believe’ you have been held back? What bothers you internally? And where can you take your power back?

Monday, July 8th, Venus Square Chiron, Chiron Station Retrograde

While we would all love to save the world in our own way, the best place we can start is with our immediate sphere of space. How can we co-create an ideal personal situation? Journal, write, speak, communicate about your wounds. We would all love to be ‘perfect’ without a scratch or a scar. But scars and wounds are part of the makeup that provides your unique wisdom. You would be surprised who you can heal from the stories of your own sufferings. This take bravery and compassion of the highest caliber.

They may seem strange and grotesque but see what wisdom finds you there and apply it to the waking world.

Tuesday, July 9th: Sun Opposed Saturn

The Sun shines a light on house of other’s resources, communication and exchange with others about their values, their deep experiences, and resources may pose tension between your own sense of values. Saturn is asking us to be responsible and set boundaries for your personal resources, be it energy exchange, personal finance, or a sense of worthiness. You want to be available for others but not at the expense of yourself. Try to strike a balance on the themes of give and take.

Wednesday, July 10th – Friday, July 12th: Mars Square Uranus, Mars Trine Chiron

Mars seeks to assert himself, separate, divide, and break down things. It seems the unique work ideas your have implemented may need to be reassessed. Maybe there are too many things happening right now, cut it down, and simplify. Determine what is working and what isn’t, remove the unnecessary from implementation, put them back in the bucket of ideas to revisit at a different time. This will only serve to help you focus on what you can master and pioneer at this time. How you assert yourself may break new ground.

Seven of cups suggests there may be a sense of stuckness or decision fission occurring that may cause you to pause. The options are overwhelming. What part of the self, do we even want to address at this time? We internally carry all the fragments which is the make-up of who we are. Start with the easiest aspect or start with the most difficult, the choice is yours, but make one. The secret is– the other options will still be there to explore when you get back. After all this is what is within.

Three of wands tells us the beginning of a journey starts with one step and one decision. The beginning of integration, the desire for progress. So make a choice and go on the journey. The journey doesn’t have to be long, but practicing your processes for journeying will assist in making progress. It gets easier with time.

The Page of wands, is the messenger, the student of the pursuit of desire and conquest. We don’t have to be a master to make an impression. Weekly Skylights for June 30-July 6, 2019: The Unveiling Fringe

The red planet recently moved into the changing waters of Cancer, instinct and intuition unite. It takes courage to wear your heart on your sleeve, this shift is saying you can. The outward expression of this may provide volition for asserting yourself and/or a fierce onrushing of creative downloads peppered with animal passions.

As we feel the silence, the whispers of the town are telling of the Solar Eclipse in Gemini, hitting close to home. Think back 9, 18, 27 years ago, what themes were you dealing with? Where does the inner self, the emotional body, need to take a stand and communicate it’s truth? In the sign of the twins, it is bringing up themes of choices and changes that were made perhaps abruptly or quickly. Boundaries broken and redefined. Transformation abound but unplanned for. Floating in the sea of uncertainty.

Yet anew, decisions will need to be made, new boundaries need to be set, and another layer of skin must be shed. This occurs in the place of the home, these themes are of your upbringing, roots, and domestic life. This may be a battle with the old you and the new you finding common ground. Suffice to say, sometimes the current version of yourself may feel like a doppelganger at times… the ego you now live with will have to stand backstage these few weeks to the needs of inner self taking center-stage.

There are themes of power dynamics at play between the domestic inner life and the career outer life. Work may be demanding and require you to expand and seek, which can make for difficult conversations at home, should changes ensue. The reverse is true, as domestic concerns can filter how you choose to seek and expand in the world outside of the home. The armor you wear may feel chinked and scuffed, but it is always worth the effort to be authentically YOU.

By the end of the week, you may be fired up with some unorthodox or unique solutions you find of your own accord. Look for inspiration in the mundane or unusual places within your surroundings, you may surprise yourself with the liberation it provides. Value those creative downloads for they bring a sense of self-resourcefulness and worthiness to the part of you that needs to be seen and expressed.
