Sidereal Stargazing: Prolific Push

On the 19th of August the Sun ingresses into the Royal sign of Leo, the place of its Dignity or Rulership. The shift from the mother to the father, from the home to the vocation. The fixed candle in the heavenly sky, sends heat and warmth, putting us into a state of creative bliss. Stroking the ego and awareness of life in all its consciousness. The center of our humble solar system has returned to its sovereign element.

On the 21st, Mercury in Cancer trine Jupiter in Scorpio. Commerce and intellect regarding matters of the heart, plays well with expansion of ideas that have been long tucked away. The details of the big picture come into focus and there is opportunity to hash out a plan. Just don’t throw the baby away with the bath water, really explore all the ideas that come to you even if they seem unusable at this time, they may work themselves out later down the line, so save and store these ideas somewhere.

On the 23rd, the Leonine Sun squares the Taurian Moon. A creative spirit has friction with the sensible soul. This dynamic aspect brings the opportunity to accomplish that feat without breaking the bank. There are more rewards in creating your own and getting recognition from it than outsourcing. You are worth it. Where can you be practical and resourceful to accomplish a harmonious solution? Both planets are in dignity, the results may prove to be showstopping and fruitful.

On the same day the planets of love and war unite, with a Venus/Mars conjunction in Leo, where they dance until the 25th. The passion and impulse to love is freely available. Passions are high, desire is strong, the urge of creative expression is unusually potent. If not creative in the sense of the art, projects, or vocation; it may be the urge for establishing union with another, be it marriage, procreation, or partnership of some kind. Utilize and harness this intense energy wisely, know what you are capable of adding and manifesting into the mix– and instill accordingly.

Cardcasting: Quest for Change

The Knight of Swords rides on a quest, gaze fixed on the objective in the distance. Calculating and swiftly approaching and targeting the next move. Get off your ass and make a move now. Banter and quick wittiness may prove to be a skill to use this week in order to clear the path and bring upon the seed of the next new brainstorm as indicated by the Ace of Swords. Be mindful not to do anything that would cause harm to yourself. Allow the intellect to guide you when you are overtly in your feelings, to maintain the balance since there looks like there will be a err of high passions running high. Spark the seed of clarity when it comes to ideas and goals. Use your old skills, learn some new skills, and give yourself a pat on the back for being willing to learn something new that can be applied to your ever-evolving being. Be adaptable in order to survive– for the only constant in this life is change. Stay sharp.

Have a Blessed week! ~ Nya

What’s Up Weekly – Insights Aug 12-18th 2019: Astro-Knots

Stargazing Trends: Emogenius

The week begins with an emphasis on our spiritual link to others and the sensitivity felt when attempting to connect, with the Sagittarian Moon activating Neptune via sextile and the Dragon’s Head via opposition on August 12th. Dragon’s Head (Rahu) is exalted in Gemini, there is a compulsion to experience life through the intellect, if given the chance. Neptune is still in a tight trine to Rahu this week, so these energies are on the hazier and cloudier side of things.

Furthermore, a moment of presence, stillness, and shift occurs as Jupiter stations Direct at 19ยฐ Scorpio and Uranus stations retrograde at 11ยฐ Aries. The Sabian symbol for 19ยฐ Scorpio is “A parrot listening and then talking, repeats a conversation that has been overheard”. This infers to a sense of spiritual channeling for some, for others it may be that you are able to transmit knowledge that holds truth to your faith or education. Here is the need to integrate the messages from your subconscious into your higher consciousness. In a negative respect, this can mean gossip or ignorant repetition of information. Be sure you get receipts where you can.

The Sabian symbol for 11ยฐ Aries is “The ruler of a nation”. This infers a time to expand your base of operations and show you have the necessary energy to get things done. It is a great time to bring a sense of discipline and order to the area of your life in which this degree is located in your natal chart. In a negative respect, this can indicate overbearing energy.

The Sun/Venus conjunction in Cancer is still at play this week. Self expression through the arts, a home renovation projects, and the like can get the ideas out of your head without allowing yourself to become to idealistic or lost in the fantasy.

The Full Moon in Capricorn on the August 15th, is about learning about the consequences or rewards of your own actions. There is no hand holding or scapegoating (no pun intended). Just a good look at what is working and what is not. Let go of the bad habits that no longer serve your purpose.

Sudden news and sudden cognition present itself today with the Aquarius Moon sextile Uranus and Cancerian Mercury square an Aries Uranus. Astuteness, persuasion, and innovative dispositions show themselves here on August 16th.

On the 17th, the Aquarius Moon conjoins with Neptune, making your dreams and feelings seem more prominent. The subconscious goes from spinning like a top to performing cartwheels. I’d say keep a look out for any vivid dreams or unexpected synchronistic phenomena– it could be rather telling of your innate genius. Perhaps this can be encouraging to life path momentum with Luna trine Rahu today.

Some Karmic lessons are sure to present themselves this week, as the wandering star triggers are all รฆtheric, astral, and heady.

CardCasting: The Path Less Traveled

Spirit Keeperโ€™s Tarot (Vitruvian edition) by Benebell Wen

This week’s tarot advice presents us with two Major Arcana cards. The Hermit (Erudite in this deck) and the Emperor. There is some need to let the machismo lead the way– what I mean by this is to sit in your power, not passively but actively playing a role in the direction your life takes and leading the way.

The Hermit can be a loner but the wisdom gained by engaging the road less traveled, makes for a wonder of stories and life experiences to share. Don’t be afraid to walk in your truth even when it seems dark; your inner light will guide the way. Sharing the details of your life stories may shine a light for others, which has the potential to make clearer their own journey. The hermit is also known as the wise one and don’t be surprised if people ask you for advice.

The Emperor places emphasis on the Uranus station in Aries. When you have to take the lead and make unique decisions, the Emperor is urging you to wield your decisions and choices with discipline, focus, determination, and conviction. Again, leading the way to some new frontier and stepping into it with authority and vigor. The path less travel has potential for gaining reign and sovereignty– just remember to wear your armor, in preparation for another notch towards your wisdom belt.

Have a Blessed week! ~Nya

What’s Up Weekly – Insights Aug 5-11th 2019: Shine Theory

Stargazing: Abundance Consciousness

Self control is the name of the game with the Virgo Moon square Saturn in Sagittarius on August 5th. Time to put the final details on the big exploratory projects. This aspect is well off for the public platform, yet may introduce some strain on the home front, aptly a sense of isolation. Thankfully, Moon aspects move rather quickly and would been a feeling in passing rather than a longer theme. Keep focused on the matters at hand.

Have you heard of shine theory or abundance consciousness? Try applying this to your world and see how it fairs. The aspect of the Cancerian Sun trine Jupiter in Scorpio Rx brings these themes into the light August 6th. The Will to expand, to give and receive recognition, successful thinking, and a good mode of expression are readily apparent and available. You may be vigorously jovial and communicative. Good news of some kind may be expected with Mercury’s ingress to Cancer. When you shine, I shine. When you succeed, I succeed. There is more than enough resources to go around.

Arriving at finding inner balance… spirit and soul, vitality and feelings, and spirit and mind, with the Cancerian Sun square the Moon in Libra on August 7th. If there is a struggle, its more internal than external and perhaps some delegation around the home is in order to arrive at pleasant medium. You may even decide to change your home decor to become more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Today the Sun Squares Jupiter which may add a touch of friction, which naturally brings excitement and movement to this realm of ‘shiny’ experiences.

Intellectual stimulation through emotional triggers can be found with the Scorpio Moon trine Cancerian Mercury on August 8th. Perhaps there is some gossip or exposure to criticism. Don’t sweat the small stuff and let it roll off your back. The truth always comes to light, so let the haters hate and eventually it will blow up in their face. Most likely this is coming from the darling aspect of Cancerian Venus trine a Scorpio Jupiter Rx, the display of a loving nature, happiness, and optimism. Keep your wits about you and strive to see humor in the nonsense.

A Sun/Venus conjunction in Cancer on August 10th, makes things feel warm and fuzzy and can be felt until August 17th. Perhaps, listening to some tunes while exploring some artistic expression is called for. Likewise, you can go for a walk in the park and enjoy the nature. (I am hearing Jill Scott’s “Long Walk” and “Golden” songs in my head for this aspect). Now, I am not one for over-optimism but find a way to do things you enjoy as this aspect seems apt for such ventures, find it’s intrinsic inner values and enjoy yourself.

Here comes the revolution! Increased excitability, ambitions, and attentiveness to your instincts are highlighted with the Moon in Sagittarius trine an Arian Uranus, on August 11th. Determination to pave your own unique path is emphasized and it feels right. Additionally, there can be a potential for sudden change to one’s circumstances. Ride the roller-coaster to the galactic center and take some friends with you. A new adventure awaits.

CardCasting: Cut to the Chase

Advice this week from the Tarot is about making some boss choices. The associated letter to The Lovers is Zain which means ‘Sword’. Wielding a sword as a tool is a responsibility that requires quick wits and quick thinking. Sharp decision making is represented here. Once the choice is made, your story moves forward. Are you in it for instant gratification? Or would you rather amend the choice for long term gains? The bigger picture here is the need to be upfront and forward about your needs and requirements. Do not passively accept less than you deserve.

This theme is echoed with the Queen of Swords (in this deck it is called the Scarlet Shield) showing up. Straight talk is your best line of defense this week. Cut straight to the heart of the matter, deal with it and move forward. On the shield there is an eagle devouring a serpent which symbolically represents victory over your adversaries. Speak your truth with conviction and hold fast to your position and watch how it manifests.

Have a blessed week! ~Nya

What’s Up Weekly – Insights for July 29- August 4, 2019: Cast a Charm

Stargazing Trends: Show Love

Sun/Venus conjunction week presents us with an opportunity to show gratitude and appreciate. Sincerity and development of furthering the development of your social expression in a creative and nurturing capacity may be highlighted.

Both the Sun and Venus are Square Uranus which adds a dash of spontaneity into the mix. You may be surprised to learn how others show their love for you. Each person has their own original way of showing love. Remain open-minded enough to accept gestures and be enterprising enough to show your own. Walk around this week dignified in your charms.

More Sun and Venus aspects to add to the stew with them both in trine to Chiron. Heal others during their uncertain moments. All you have to do is hold space. Active listening and acknowledgement should be sufficient in allowing others to work through their any issues they may have. Genuine respect and/or gratification is gained here should the opportunity present itself. Usually, when compassion is shown, everyone wins.

New Moon ingresses to Cancer midweek. Start from where you are. The pressure is on to get long term projects off the ground and build toward them. When things look bleak, don’t give up. Look for the hidden opportunities. Break down artificial barriers and alliances. Dreams become reality when you have a game plan. Set some goals, do your best to get out of your feelings and into your body. Take the steps forward and make the dream work, as we still have the ongoing Neptune trine Nodes.

Midweek, Mercury stations Direct in Gemini, things should begin to normalize especially if you are sensitive to this shift. If communication was quickly falling apart this station should amend and quickly rebuild broken links and qualms, bringing understanding into play.

As the week ends, the Moon in Leo trine Pluto will give us the fire we need to charge forward to make needed changes with others, be it business partners, colleagues, close friends, and/or family members. It could be a simple as pulling together to reach a long term goal and achieving it. Give it that last push!

Cardcasting: Third time’s a Charm

Three of Cups: Let the rays of sunshine fill your cups with laughter and community. Dance the dance, drink the wine, eat the fruits, and share the wisdom. Sometimes we would rather go at things alone, the cards (and the stars) are urging you to find solace in your community. Share your feelings, speak your truth, and work together towards a common goal. Celebrate and relish in the momentum of the “fateful trifecta”, Spin, Dispense, and Release. You are the weaver of your destiny. The synthesis and unity of these processes coalesces into the realm of realization and understanding.

Three of Disks: The first taste of progression being made as you weave your tapestry, the foundation being established. The pattern begins to unfold and become visible- tangible. The crystallization of its innate powers. The first bearings of matter which ultimately becomes your great work. Although, further work will need to be done, here there is enough motivation to continue to proceed through to the end product, even if you take a tumble. In the very famous words of our fallen Aaliyah, “If at first you don’t success, dust yourself off and try again”.

Queen of Spades: Is here to remind you, while yes, it is a time to show love, it doesn’t mean everything is love and light all of the time. She is here to say “That’s a bunch of bullshyt!”. Life has made you tough as nails, and there is still a strange isolation even when you are surrounded by friends and family. Guess what, it’s a pretty normal experience for most people. That doesn’t mean clam up- just be practical. It means do what you have to do, no matter how you feel– it’s discipline. It is time to use your magic and charms, sometimes dark humor is the best humor because it is a showcase of what experiences are real. Shared experience makes for like humor in most cases. So, the Queen of Spade is a notice, to beware of hidden agendas and to pay attention to your surroundings. Let sheer determination pave the way forward.

Notable: We have a three three’s! Three of cups, Three of pentacles, and 12 (1+2=3) The Queen. Three is the number of synthesis and unity, it means you probably learn the hard way but success and fortunate can be found through allowing yourself to lean on others a bit. A common goal IS desired and team work makes the dream work!

Have a Blessed Week! ~Nya

Minor Planetary Bodies – Asteroids

Asteroids

Larger asteroids will sometimes be referred to as โ€˜planetoidsโ€™. They are composed of mineral and rock. Asteroids are different from meteors as asteroids have a diameter greater than one meter. There are over 21,000 named asteroids. The main asteroids used in astrology are the first four that were discovered, Ceres, Pallas, Juno, and Vesta. Traditionally, only Venus and the Moon represent โ€˜femininityโ€™. In modern astrology, these asteroids presented a way to add the feminine balance into traditional astrological dialogue– that is to level out the playing field in terms of assertive and passive energies when reading a chart.

Ceres

Represents: The process of nurturing and motherhood. The ability to take on parental responsibility. Also a close relationship to earth as a gardener or grower of food. Where it is placed in the chart can indicate the way parenthood manifests in the life of the individual. It can also represent a sense of being nurtured and potential issues to that end. It is also oneโ€™s relationship to abundance and fertility.

Minor Planetary Bodies – Centaurs

Centaurs

Centaurs differentiate from other asteroids because they characteristically behave as a mix between a comet and an asteroid. Comets are composed of dust and ice. Thus, a mythological association was made with Centaurs who were half human and half horse. Centaurs have unstable orbits compared to other celestial bodies making them unique. Their orbits links between one planetary realm and the next. Apparently, there is estimated to be roughly 44,000 centaurs in our solar system.

Chiron

Known as the “Wounded Healer”. Where Chiron is located in the chart reveals where one has been wounded and where healing is needed. From our own wounds we learn compassion for others through our own suffering, thus instilling ancient wisdom from a unique vantage point. To experience spiritual connection. Tropical Versus Sidereal Zodiac (Astro Journal #1)

As I have been on this astrological journey, I have found that my framework is solid but I could not quite put my finger on what kind of astrologer I am. Something felt off. So during this line of self questioning, I have decided that I am going to pursue and continue to write on this blog as an online metaphysical journal of sorts.

You see, I have been approached by many to assist them with understanding some concepts regarding, spirituality, astrology, tarot, and divination. This blog is in part, my attempt to have this information available to all of you lovelies (you know who you are). In addition to having a place for self-expression and to share my journey.

I have had requests to write horoscopes time and againโ€” andโ€” while I have always wanted to, something felt off, call it a hunch or intuition. I could never stick to it because I didnโ€™t feel satisfied… that is until yesterday. I fell into a sidereal-sized wormhole, which has me intrigued and excited…

Backstory

I suppose I fell into a Western Tropical traditional/evolutionary astrologer role. It seemed like an easy and natural default. I do account for modern planets and Chiron. In recent years, Hellenistic and Renaissance astrology have peaked my interest as well (which are types of traditional astrology). I enjoy systems and techniques. So, with all that interest, comes a ton of history and reading.

Anyhow, In Western Astrology most people use the Tropical Zodiac, this is to say the Aries point or starting point of the zodiac, starts on the Vernal (Spring) Equinox of the northern hemisphere. This bases the modality of each zodiac sign to be in alignment with the seasons.

  • Cardinal Fire = Aries = The beginning or inrush of Spring
  • Fixed Earth = Taurus = The middle or sustaining of Spring
  • Mutable Air = Gemini = The end or releasing of Spring

In the beginning, or rather with the ancient astrologers, this was in alignment with the seasons and the constellations. This has shift over the centuries, however, as this methodology does not account for precession. So, nowadays to experience the inrush of Spring on the Vernal Equinox is rare depending where you live in the Northern Hemisphere. Do not even get me started about how this doesn’t even begin to match up with the Southern Hemisphere seasons at all.

The Sidereal Zodiac accounts for precession and is more inline with the fixed stars of the constellations while maintaining 30 degrees per sign. This resonates with me so much more than basing the zodiacs on the Vernal Equinox. I mean, astrology is a pseudoscience with its basis on ancient astronomical data. If we are incorporating modern astronomical data and implementing new planetary bodies such as asteroids into our chart interpretations; then I feel, we should also account for the precession of the equinoxes and the current status of the heavenly sky.

Way back in the olden days, Western and Eastern Astrology were more more in sync with each other but over the centuries this has shifted because of precession. The ancient astrologers were also astronomers. To feel the ingress of spring during the vernal equinox made sense to assign Aries this cardinal rush of heat and fire way back whence. Thankfully, the attributes of the zodiac signs doesnโ€™t change now. What changes is simply, where the signs are located when casting a chart. So, If I am to keep in line with this tradition then I must explore and experiment with the Sidereal Zodiac. It seems fitting.

…Then I find out there is such thing as Western Sidereal Astrology! Woohoo! I can still use my preexisting knowledge and techniques and I don’t have to throw away everything I have ever learned. Phew! And there are additional things I can apply to my delineations and such as Nakshatras (lunar mansions) and Fixed Stars. Which have historically significance in the East in tandem with spirituality. I found this in three part in-depth article about Western Sidereal Astrology, if you are interested you can read about it here.

Golden Dawn

Tarot peeps, did you know that Mathers favored a fixed sidereal zodiac? Neither did I until just recently. So, it surprises me that Sidereal is not more popular with western astrological practices. This is not what made me make the switch over but it seems more like a confirmation from the universe. More text and info about this can be found in the book called, “The Astrology of the Golden Dawn (Golden Dawn Studies #10)” by J.W. Brodie-Innes.

Excerpt of The Astrology of the Golden Dawn by J.W. Brodie-Innes

Final Note

Okay, sidereal, you have me hooked so far. I feel like I am being pulled home learning about this ONE thing. A foundation has been laid and I intend on building on it. Of all the divination systems, astrology is the oldest and most complex. There is a combination of logic and intuition that need to be applied. Finding that sweet spot is no easy feat as it is a process of incessant study and application. But once you find what calls to you, makes sense to you, and works for you… run with it.

While I am no master, Western Sidereal Astrology is calling to me. Which means, I have the pleasure and duty of recasting every single natal chart I have ever done and putting in the work. I am ready and highly excited to see what insights I gather from this new perspective.
